My Auris is a hybrid - the heavies one, 1480 kg.
It does not work IRL. I have a clear pattern of driving alone and with my wife. The difference is 0.5L/100km in the city - this is about 10%. (May be due to hilly terrain.)
(There is no difference on the highway.)
