Ah, didn't realize this was about CAFE, where the stated figures aren't actual.
Regarding acceleration, supposedly the Mazda does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds, but I highly doubt that. The thing feels like it has turbo lag because it does nothing for the 1st second after mashing the gas pedal. The sluggishness makes passing more dangerous or not feasible because of how gutless the thing is.
Next car needs to do 0-60 in 6 seconds or better. I don't get any thrill out of that because I ride a motorcycle, but it's useful in operating the vehicle safely.
