1) If an ice cube lasts for 18,000-years you can say it was 'stable', just as the glaciologist who said it.
2) Adding to it does not 'destabilize' it.
3) The fact that it's gone, at a time when Earth would be entering a new ice-age, is of concern to glaciologists and all who study the cryosphere.
