Well the second tank has been a much bigger challenge. We've had record heat over the last week, so running without the A/C hasn't been an option. I remember on my other vehicles running the A/C would cost me about 25% in fuel economy. It's costing something closer to 18% on the Maverick. I'm at 42 mpg and climbing after the first gallon.
I also still been toying with Normal vs. Eco mode for maximum thrust efficiency. Not many realize that light acceleration is actually not the most fuel efficient. For starters, it takes longer to reach target speed than a high-thrust burst, so the engine on-time is much longer. But an engine also produces maximum power per fuel rate somewhere around 3000 RPM at 60% throttle. Eco mode seems to keep the RPMs lower while Normal mode makes it easy to spool up to ~60% power. But the outcome seems to be a wash.
Lastly, I've quite letting the engine idle at a stop if the computer decides it wants the battery charged. Letting the 2.4L engine idle, I may as well just stab a hole in my tank and pour the petrol on the ground. So instead, the battery can charge while I'm punching it!
