Did you notice it seems harder to find a technical-and-spiritual replacement for the Beetle than for the Model T? Within Ford's own range it's impossible to deny the Ranger became so ubiquitous on nearly every market where Ford operates, yet the mid-size Toyota trucks and SUVs such as the Hilux, Tacoma, Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado seem to have taken over the role of a versatile vehicle which could serve both as a family runabout and a workhorse, and essentially the body-on-frame with rear-wheel drive, longitudinal engine and rear live-axle remain in use after more than 100 years...
