According to the park rangers at the Grand Canyon, before the Colorado Plateau was finally thrust up to create the Grand Canyon region, Texas had already been under ocean six different times.
No humans around to see it though.
Moon, rain, carbon cycling, greenhouse gases, volcanism, plate tectonics, orbital forcing, albedo, vegetative cover, heavy cometary and meteoric bombardment.......... busy planet!
