I grew up on one of those islands in the Pacific.

3,000,000 years ago, the atmospheric carbon-dioxide level was 400 ppmv, and sea level was 60-feet higher than today. Presently, we're @ 412.5 ppmv.
As the months and years unfold, sea level will return to it's former 60-foot higher level. Nothing 'catastrophic.'
That would be Thwaites Glacier, a near- instantaneous five-foot seal level rise.
Reserve your tickets, popcorn, and soda-pop.
We, fortunately had a large mountain smack dab in the middle of the island so that when the typhoon season hit and the storm driven tides would rise, we would move to higher ground. Grandpa had a cave outfitted to be comfortable during this time. It housed our large family and the islanders nearby. After the storm would do it's best to clear all evidence of human habitation, we would go back down and repair our thatch and bamboo huts. Five foot sea level rise? No worries.

Catastrophic Global Warming is a first world issue. We simple people adjust. We always have.
