I only had 4 whole 1x2s. It seemed weird to not cut them to end in the middle of the rafters.

Not just weird, it was wrong.

It was never clear how wide each section of the ceiling was. I put one board in each corner and one in the middle.

Then I cut the fourth piece to finish the first row, but I need to trim the full piece, and hopefully use the partials eventually.

I need to cut 9 more 1x2s.

I tried screwing a scrap to the ends, but my headlamp died before I could make it work, which was just as well, because it was the wrong way.
