Yeah, Hazel Mitchell and David Pessonen sure look like hippies. They're even standing in front of a VW Beetle!
Consider that they may have been right at that time. The connection to nuclear weapons was there. If the war hawks hadn't pushed light water reactors over Thorium we wouldn't be living under a threat of total destruction even today.
