Had a "sustainable" handling of native timber be allowed once again, do you believe it could improve soil quality for instance. Around 7 years ago I remember seeing a sawmill advertising that it had Araucaria wood, presumably from old trees which fell due to old age since it's forbidden to cut them, yet there were times when Araucaria wood mostly from Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul used to be exported even to Europe. Araucaria is a pine, just like the European Pinus which is "farmed" nowadays, yet the European Pinus tends to acidize the soil and prevent native trees to grow on its surroundings, and some of those native trees displaced by Pinus also served as a food source for native wildlife.
