A few years ago a friend of mine switched from 175/70 to 185/80 R14 in a trucklet he still owns. He didn't notice any mileage improvement and went for the larger tires in order to imcrease ground clearance. I guess the largar tires being wider and of some obscure Chinese brand deny most of the increase which could be expected to fuel savings.
