All the local brown dwarfs are in binary systems.
The companion star's gravitational, tidal 'Roche' pull may be cannibalizing the gas and dust around the 'failed star' dwarf, who's orbit has been perturbed by a 'Saturn-Class' exoplanet in its solar system; which in our solar system, likely pulled Thea out of it's orbit, causing it to collide with Earth to create our Moon.
It's rough out there!
