The formidable AC Cobra had A-arm + transverse leaf, too, but with the spring on top, still with the single mounting point, making it two quarter-elliptics in effect. All those steel springs used as locating members suffered from using the same multi-leaf design. In composites, it is easy to create a short, wide quarter-elliptic spring right where you want a hinge point, and continue out with a more rigid arm that needs no other bracing fore and aft.
