You're not the only one. AFAIK one of the reasons why Toyota released hybrid versions of the Corolla outside Japan was due to some conservative customers who rejected the appearance of the Prius in any of its generations. It's often said that a Latino would rather buy a hybrid Corolla instead of a Prius, and it might be true considering what happened in Brazil where the locally-produced hybrid Corolla outsold the imported Prius even though for a while the Prius had been offered with a considerable discount, as I was told by an old lady who had bought a brand-new Prius for the price of a non-hybrid Corolla about 3 years and half ago, a few months before the arrival of the hybrid Corolla.
