Distance sensor for drafting

Thinking about a distance sensor to make drafting a bit safer.
Three types, depending on functionality:
  1. Only displays distance to the vehicle you are following,
  2. Reads your speed and also displays how many seconds behind the vehicle you are,
  3. Interacts with your cruise control to keep either the distance or the time constant (with a limit on max speed).
Option 2 would be helpful for me, as Poland recently adopted a new 3-second minimum following time, to combat tail-gating.

Just tossing this idea up for discussion about available and DIY sensors.
