Update. In talking with them it doesn't seem they did any CarFax or similar. The actual quote for the repair is close to $9,000 according to them. Thankfully they've got the problem resolved with the extended warranty and will only owe $500 for the deductible.

On another note, my new computer froze again after a month of working fine. Let's hope this doesn't become a constant problem again like before.

I also went to open the rear hatch on the Prius at about -20°F and the whole part where the handle, plate lights and Toyota symbol are just broke apart into at least 3 pieces.
