So now I want a bug-out vehicle with a Sandbo starter. ever heard of the model T Sandbo Starter? There was a pull handle under the dash, connected to the reduced diameter curved starter handle, that get most engines to start, while the driver stayed in the carl

These were marketed for the Model T Ford, but they're cable operated so I think one would retrofit onto a low-compression, Magneto-equipped flat four.

Much better than the hand crank my 1954 barndoor bus had. (Yes I miss that one too) My Forest Green 1971 Superbeetle would start on a single revolution.
