Wokeness is an oxymoron. Wokeness is automated response based on tribal affiliation, which is the opposite of conscientious thought.
That said, people have a "duty" to create an optimally functioning society, because they have an obligation to the future, just as they were an investment into the future. This is an appeal to personal responsibility though, not a suggestion that the state should obligate individuals to respond. The state can't make me feel responsible for others; quite the opposite actually.

I'm very tired of racists enacting racism in the US. They are few, but they are noisy and influential. There are more poor white folk in the US because there are more white folk. There are more dumb white folk in the US because there are more white folk. We should be solving problems for people, but instead we're falling into a racist trap and wasting everyone's time to solve no problems for anybody (actually creating more problems). There are commonalities of every measure of success (and failure) that applies across all races. Any attempt to address a failure at the level of race is, by definition, racist. We should be considering solutions that address the shared areas of success/failure, but instead we like to waste our time feeling good instead of acting out goodness.
