Pete Brock designed the Daytona coupe, and almost everyone was sceptical, and unwilling to support a 200 lb weight increase. Then Ken Miles took it to Riverside for a quick test, and it was so fast he verified the axle ratio before he could believe the improvement. However, when a rear spoiler was indicated, they just kludged something together quick, and never did build the one Pete had designed as part of that rear cavity.
