I lived in a rental unit this past year. In the summer my elec bill was about 50/mo @7c/kwh (i think). In january it was 400 dollars due to baseboard heaters and I woke up one morning and it was 11 degrees in the house... the basement was probably about 5*. I LOATH my slumlord.

Now happily residing in my own home with forced air furnace. Will be slowly renovating it to update and keeping insulation in mind the whole way.

edit, i just crunched the numbers, that was a total of 5.7MWh of elec in that month if my pricing was correct.
