PDX (Portland) to OGG (Maui) is about 5hrs on a commercial jet. We need to develop RAM or SCRAM technology in the commercial sector. A 2hr flight is more reasonable.

The Concorde crash was 2 tragedies, the crash, and then the subsequent elimination of the only supersonic commercial transportation.

I'm with Peter Thiel at his dismay of lack of progress (and regression). I'm in my 40s and nobody has set foot on another heavenly body during this time, or even exited earth orbit. No new commercial supersonic planes have been developed within my lifetime.

We need to be going from point A to point B, and quickly.
