So to follow up, I do not think the block off for me is giving consistent results. On a tank that was my daily commute I got 14.5 which is country and city roads and also got one slightly higher at like 16 with a normalish commute. I also took it off on Friday and during a mostly country miles got 18 which is the second highest I have ever gotten and I think the increase I have seen lately is the bug deflector. So I am convinced that 20mpg was legit, just everything was perfect somehow. I might try more experimenting when I get back from MI despite not seeing any real temp raise whether its blocked or not, I do not want to risk blowing this radiator before my sand dune trip.
