This looks like an old land speed racecar. My guess is that the front sheet metal and extreme top chop (resulting in a smaller frontal area) improve the aerodynamics (with regard to efficiency). Comments about aerodynamic efficiency (what probably works, and what probably doesn't work) are welcome.
