Employers cannot ask a person's race, color, or national origin in the interview process. That doesn't mean they can't infer these things from other parts of the resume.
The study I'm referring to sent out resumes to job postings but varied the name to test for bias in the hiring process. What the study found was that resumes with the names like Greg, Todd, Brad, and Neil got 50% more call backs than the same resume with names like Jamal, Tyrone, Darnell, and Rasheed.
That is VERY clear evidence of racial bias in the hiring process and it isn't the white guys that are being discriminated against.
