It's a 3rd rail topic. People want to believe they can pay indulgences in the form of consumerism to get into the good graces of Gaia. There are worse religions and practices though.

I'm a fan of EVs but don't need to form a religion around it. I find myself debunking EV myths in other forums. Some people need to believe EVs will either save us or doom us.
