Too much is not enough! Frankly, I reach for a 22LR or 410 shot shell.
The ones that are only maimed in a spring trap, I put out for the feral cats. They're usually gone by morning.
I see waves of mice when neighbor's trailers are demolished instead of moved out. The avenues of entry are obscure, and they can squeeze trough an opening the size of a dime. The ones I do know about are stuffed with steel wool.
