Even the newly redesigned Prius is only selling at a yearly rate of 55,000 a year. That is down from a peak of 230,000 when the Prius was basically Toyota's only hybrid in the USA except for the Highlander.

So maybe the Prius may not stay for much longer, as the nameplate became redundant.
