On Thursday it hit 88 degrees outside, and since we were having people over, I ran the 5-ton AC for 3 hours and consumed 12 kWh.

On Friday it hit 89 degrees outside, and I turned on the 1-ton AC window unit the moment it became warmer outside than indoors. It ran for 9hrs, holding indoor temp to 79 degrees, and consumed 7 kWh.

I think the single window unit will get us through the summer and save a bit of electricity. I average 1000 kWh for cooling with the 5-ton unit every year, so by September I should be able to see if the window unit saved energy.
