Because of the millions of elsewhereans pouring into Texas, and willing to pay West Coast, Left Coast, and Mid Coast real estate prices, booming property values caused our property tax to 'double' in a year, not only eating entirely, the last social security raise, but taking my income into negative territory. While cannibalism is illegal in Texas, The Denton County Appraisal District hasn't seemed to get the memo.
Those Texan residents living before the boom will end up 'eaten' by the County.
With income going 'backwards', it's hard to budget for the pursuit of happiness.
