As far as I can tell, there are 3 purposes of reframing:
1. Change perspective towards something more reflective of reality
2. Create a directionally true perception despite an inaccurate description
3. Attempt to deceive for ideological reasons
#3 is out for me, always. #2 is acceptable to me so long as it's for the good; "alcohol is poison". #1 is what I strive for.
I don't find utility in deceiving myself that the issue is "bodily autonomy". That reframe is net-negative unless used in some pragmatic way to extend a conversation with a persuadable person.
I think of everything as a reframe, because that's all we're capable of. The frames should align with reality or they will eventually collapse. Robust frames persist longer than the weak ones. It's why I reject the fads that will have failed the test of time in a handful of years.
To really offend everyone, I expect something like GATTICA will happen soon (in my lifetime) where we won't be discarding undesirable life so much as engineering to our preferences. A new level of dystopia is created when choice is maximized.
It's almost as if knowledge of good and evil and obtaining some god-like capabilities has unintended negative consequences.
