Simulation theory isn't a new or particularly useful frame. It's as if Scott slept through all of his Catholic upbringing.

Reality has always been a simulation of what would happen if things are just as they are, so it's an unnecessary abstraction. Authoring reality (or simulation if one thinks abstraction is somehow more useful) is the very first thing mentioned in The Bible.

Maybe while sleeping through church Scott incorporated Christian doctrine into his dream of The Simulation.
