The problem is entirely alignment, because there isn't an option to avoid AI. Those who avoid it just become irrelevant, at best.

As a corollary, human genetic engineering will not be illegal in the future, because it will be the only way to remain relevant/viable. If one group is producing physically healthy geniuses, while another is producing sickly dullards, the healthy geniuses will own 95% of wealth.

The future guarantees genetically engineered cyborgs, and the challenge is to direct the engineering in pro-human and pro-individual ways.
