Wind turbines do need a lot of oil. Usually nearly a thousand gallons inside the turbine and another 1,000 to 1,200 in the pad transformer at the base of every turbine.
The gear oil and hydraulic fluid has a life up to 3 years where the transformer oil should last the life of a wind turbine.
Killing the snake is a metaphor.
Pretty sure wind turbines off set the CO2 they produce.
