That makes some sense because as things are the engine bay air is venting out the wheel wells? and likely ends up as more turbulent air down the sides of the car

Have you, or anyone here tried such?
I seem to recall Julian Edgar finding the aero better if it came out the wheel wells, but I'd need to dig through what he wrote. There is some on Ecomodder, a lot on Insight Central, and most of all on Autospeed.
