I would argue that a 'dome' physical form is the GREATEST impediment to its adoption.
In 'housing' there's an analogue to the 'Law of the Paris Dressmaker' associated with automotive design.
'Americans' have never known that the 'performance' of a 'house' was directly associated with its 'look'.
Good luck reversing that reality on a 'national / global' scale!
