That's a wierd thing I'm having trouble understanding!?

I get the:
"Unless I can buy the bits easily and put them together with nothing more than a screwdriver; I'm not interested because the tech does not directly apply to me"

But what I don't get is: when a new technology IS easy to acquire and apply:
"Someone else... No; EVERYONE else must do it 1st before I will believe it and try it"
(Makes me wish we could go back and laugh at the inevitable mistrust of The Wheel when it 1st came out!)

There seems to be a deep mistrust of any/all new scientific research..?
That mistrust seems to be a new thing as the inventors and innovators of old were revered and followed by 'The News' and 'Big News!' until very recently.
eg:
Everyone was there to see the 1st electric lights in New York come on, whereas that kind of thing doesn't even make 'The News' nowadays!?

I get that weirdly; no-one likes people cleverer than themselves
(makes them feel stupid, without a thought on how stupid it is to think that way)
but there seems to have been a hugely successful 'campaign' by the media to 'make little of science'..???
Maybe it's a case of:
"If we can make the inventor/s believe they've achieved nothing; we can have the tech for nothing and feel 'clever' (again) by doing so!"?


This science points to a breakthrough in space exploration and man's ability to colonize other planets, enabling humanity to survive global catastrophes that would otherwise end us.
More directly or applicably; it hints at way more 'aero' wheel-les transport!

I'd say the best thing to do is get oneself onto any colony ship and TF away from all the stupid negativity and mistrust here!?
