If the metro is anything like my (and most) Civic, most of the mounts are on the transmission..
I can't imagine it would be too awful difficult to make a small plate that bolts to the "front" of the e-motor and mount the OEM front engine mount to it, so that it bolts to the original mount in the car, and it should only add *at most* about 20 lbs, which can easily be reclaimed by telling your wife that no synthetic fabrics are allowed to be worn in your "green car". (If she's anything like mine, that includes most of her wardrobe, bonus.) :P
