The All New New Volkswagen Polo
- weighs 7.5% less than the vehicle it replaces – despite being marginally wider and longer
- but it's also safer
- more efficient
- Upcoming BlueMotion II version of this car expected to return 85 mpg (Imp) / 71 mpg (US) (UK test figures)
The 2010 BlueMotion II version will feature:
- all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder common rail diesel
- automatic Stop-Start
- regenerative braking (not for hybrid propulsion, likely a "smart" alternator system)
- gearbox with revised ratios
- optimised aerodynamics beneath the vehicle
- suspension lowered by 15 mm
- low rolling resistance tyres
And I've read several articles that suggest the new version
might come to North America. It would certainly sell well in Canada.
