It's probably worth picking up, but I can't answer that without a comparison.
I skimmed the entire Hucho book 4th ed. this weekend - it's really good. Highly recommended to anyone with an interest in the subject. And it's encyclopedic compared to the Barnard book.
I'm looking forward to going through it properly.
EDIT: I'd guess that one area that's missing from the 2nd edition is the part on computational fluid dynamics. No big deal - the meat of the book is the history, theory & testing.
