i'm tempted to agree with you sketch, but it's not what i make from the description...
one thing that is a little unclear to me is if this 30degree angle is measured vs a horizontal or vertical line
here's both versions although i assume the second one is correct (it also looks most like what mercedes has)
also your drawing looks like it might generate lower pressure above each slat than behind it, wich might actually suck air out of the grill.
