They're aiming for the price range of the Yaris/Fit.

Sadly, the more I learn, the less hopeful I am that VW will do anything meaningful with this car - in terms of efficiency - in the Canada/US market:

I won't be surprised if in the end we end up with a watered down AND plumped up Polo, which, like the Fit, will have short gearing and no way to opt for a smaller engine.
