My opinion on Hyundai's success? They make darn fine vehicles, that look very stylish and contemporary, feel solid, and have a 10 year warranty for less than almost anyone else can even touch. I could say more but that's really it. Sorry every other car company but Hyundai just owned you and their sales prove it. I don't even own a Hyundai - but I

Subaru, it's a niche, I think it's also relevant that their cars tend to be
highly functional without being minivans. - in other words a practical type at any income level can own a Subaru without any class implications. They're a mid priced car that a low income family can justify because it's so darn useful and has a reputation for longevity - but also a very high income family can park at their estate and not be even the least bit "ashamed" of it because its functionality and appearance are classy enough to park in any driveway. It is this breadth of market share that I would bet is responsible for their success.
