Aprox 43 bhp at rear wheel motorcycle with sport bike fairing with air cooled twin cylinder engine, twin carbs, 6 speed transmission, 16/39 final drive, the best fuel consumption in 2009 was 3.5L/100km 67mpg,at an average speed of 83km/hr, 52mph.
Build Thread:
Current Mods:
Foam and aluminum extensions to various parts of the fairing, front fender, underside and sides behind the rider. the basic idea at this time is to make the sides of the bike more continuos. The exhaust exit is tapered then bell mouthed... in 2009 the first version got 3.5L/100km, 67mpg at average speed of 83km/hr, 52mph on mostly gravel roads.
In 2010 I have added 'saddle bags' and extended curved windshield. This year I got 3.75L/100km [63mpg] at 120km/hr [75mph] and 3.3L/100km [71mpg] at 100km/hr [62.5mph]
Planned Mods:
Controlled warm air intake, aero tank bag, aero saddle bags, extended windshield, the basic idea is minor mods to existing fairing and front fender, to see what can be achieved with this approach. 17 tooth front sprocket [instaled Feb 2010], 33 tooth rear sprocket, for a 20% drop in RPM, to get to 2.5L/100km, 94 mpg. the latest mod is 37 tooth rear sprocket to replace the 39 tooth on august 26th 2010.
For 2011 will make real sadle boxes & Aero pasanger seat bag. I will try the 33T rear sprocket with the 130/90-17 dunlope D404 will use GPS and/or data loger to track time and distance... the objective is 94mpg, 40km/L
