We Homo sapiens in our current form appeared only about 200,000 years ago. So our species has survived two ice ages. In each ice age global temperatures were colder by 4 °C. The warmest period ever experienced by early humans was about 1 °C warmer (global average) than today. That period occured between the two most recent ice ages, 120,000 years ago (Eemian). Over the next 100,000 years temperatures gradually decreased into a new ice age. During that colder period humans began to expand out of Africa and across the globe. Ever since the Eemian much cooler temperatures have been the norm.

It's called 'permafrost' due to the fact that until recently it was permanently frozen.
I suppose 'relativifrost' could take it's place now. It will remain frost as a function of how warming accelerates.
We've been through climate change before, but never anthropogenically-driven climate change.
As I keep repeating, when you start a fire larger than a planet, and keep it burning from year to year, it should be no surprise when the planet turns around and bites you on the ---.

The half life of methane in the atmosphere is only like 12 years. Seems like whole lot of nothing.

While it remains for its lifetime, it's 21-times more powerful as a greenhouse gas, which amplifies global warming.
Which releases more methane.
Then, it turns into carbon dioxide which remains for a thousand years, which amplifies global warming.
Which releases even more methane.
In an endless positive feedback loop.

No, but many friends who did. Friend, Nick, M., childhood playmate of Carrie Fisher ( Princess Leia, Star Wars ) may have been the one to tell of the joys of Catholic school.
