$15 ECO Friendly Cruise Control in 30 min.

To activate the system with the brakes, instead of going from the brake lights,you could most likely go straight from the brake light switch. If the make/model of your vehicle had the option of cruise control than your brake light switch likely already has a terminal that is activated (or deactivated) when the brakes are applied, to shut off the cruise control.

I uses this when I installed a lock up torque converter in my El Camino, as soon as I applied the brakes, the "cruise control" terminal of the brake light switch would automatically disable the cruise, but I use it to unlock the converter.

If your car does have the option for cruise, this would be a decent way to have a factory connection/ switch.

I am far from the most efficient driver on this form... With the throttle lock it does allow you to slow down while going up hills and speed up while going down witch is "good" for fuel mileage, but as to what is the most of efficient means of traversing hill covered land... That you will have to ask someone with more experience hypermileing. I don't have an instant fuel mileage are read out.

I did get it just received my own MPGuino today though!!!

I'll want to add some kind of cruse control for more accurate ABA testing with the CRX. As long as I can set the speed fairly consistently, this might work for me. Definitely worth digging deeper into!

I used a cheep thumb shifter from a bike. for a throttle hold. Kill switch in a very handy spot for emergency stops.

I was thinking of this because of what you just typed. The throttle would be constant, so the vehicle would slow a bit going uphill, and then recover going down. A bit unorthdox, I agree. Hadn't quite cleared the emergency hurdle yet...

kill switch on a small bracket, held to the cars gearshift by the clamp built into the bicycle shifter.
