ID, MT, UT, NV, AZ, NM, CO, WY, and KS over 55, some up to 85mph, is allowed when towing . Im shure there are others but I haven't been there, or don't recall.

So I've considered making the vertical clear gap covers into sheet metal and moving the truck's rear license plate to the rear as well as adding in some rear back up lights to make the end of the rig completely legal as one vehicle. This would alleviate the need fer a trailer plate at the end of Dark Aero as I will have all the requirements fer the back end of the vehicle (rear license plate, bumper, turn signals, brake lights, back up lights, and marker lights). The towing axle and speed restrictions would be non-issues as the rig would be treated as one complete unit since they would not be able to see/inspect the attachment part of Dark Aero to the truck. Thus Dark Aero would be fully incorporated as an articulated boat tail into the truck.

I wonder if Texas would want the T-100 re-classified as a 5-wheeled vehicle?
If for any reason, you were pulled over,running your tag number through INTERPOL would show up as a pickup,and might open a challenging conversation on the side of the road.

Makes me wonder if anything similar would happen to those people from my country who own crew-cab trucks with a sedan-ish bodystyle, as those conversions used to be quite usual until some years ago.

Erm...
If you want to make an articulated 1 wheeled trailer (no castor wheel) your 'tow hitch should be a universal cross as found in driveshafts on rear wheel drive cars.
Now you have the left n right and the up n down for the bumps etc, but to fall over the trailer has to 'twist' the car into falling over...
ie: You need 1 (one) of these crosses and the splined bit:

See that splined bit: that splined pipe or the shaft bit it fits around is solidly mounted straight back behind center of the car.
Drill a hole through that for a pin and you have your quick disconnect.
The cross stays with the trailer.
NB that your main forces are now in the direction in which the splined bit used to work to negate such forces..!
Choose crosses with thickness in that plane or/and go big!
NB that this works for motorbikes and bicycles etc too...
('big!' : not so much. )

BamZipPow's example is not articulated.
I've only seen one-wheel articulated trailers on motorcycles.

I'm using a zero-rake, collapsed motorcycle front fork, with the front axle serving as the pivot-point for overall 'pitch' at the tow vehicle connection point.
This 'wider' width gives more 'triangulation' and less strain on the joint when the tow vehicle experiences 'roll.'
The head tube/ fork pivot provides for 'yaw.'
The sprung and dampened swing-arm allows the single vertical degree of freedom absorbing road shock.

Bam's trailer is hinged to a transverse spar, welded to the 2-inch 'male' pipe which engages the receiver hitch.
It articulates in 'pitch', dampened by duel air-springs.
