Did you try the Motul 5W-30 oil yet? Any improvement in mileage?

I got my 36T rear sprocket, -2 teeth, to go along with my +1 in the front and should have that on in time, but will be competing at Watkins Glen next week with the stock bodywork. This is alright as I don't mind showing up on an essentially stock looking bike to show people that you don't need any major money or mods on the CBR250R to easily break 100mpgUS in competition. I ended up settling on aluminum for the rear sprocket but paid extra for the hard coating. $61 from PMP sprockets in Texas. Will change to Motul 300V 5W30 next week also.

I did pick up a roll of coated .018 aluminum trim for the skin when I get around to making my tail but it isn't crucial to get that done until the Vetter challenge in July. I have been delaying the instal on the tail as my son has been learning on my bike but picked a third motorcycle last week (07 Ninja 650 to go with my daughters Ninja 250 and my Honda) so now he has his own. Funny, this time last year I didn't have any motorcycles.

I also have a speedo DRD to heal the speedo error which should be a 1/2 hour install and have ordered an MPGuino but probably won't get that on in time to play with it before next week. I had plans for experimenting with a vacuum gauge and added mass on a hill and also wanted to play with some marine gasoline but never got around to it so at this point I am just going to show up and ride. In last years road rally, the only vehicles to break 100 were ultra high tech professional competition vehicles so I should have a good chance of making the top 5 on my $4100 bike both days.

Sendler, sounds like you've made great progress and I hope you break 100mpg at Watkin Glens. What are the rules there as far as speed and pace? Can you EOC and PnG a lot? I wish there were more fuel economy competitions around here but at least we have the Carmel Vetter Challenge.
Keep us posted about Watkin Glens and your tailsection build up.

Speed must average 49-54 mph for 100 miles. I might try some EOC. Engine on PnG is no problem as long as you don't pass in the turns and don't generally create any problems. Day two is over the back roads and townsfor 140 miles and speeds are set to average the local speed limits. I have to navigate SCCA rally style by myself. I hope they don't make the course too tricky.

Finally riding the CBR250R with the new tail. Very pleased that after 2 years of just idling in the garage ocasionally, it came out of winter hibernation this year and the new battery fired it right off like it was yesterday. With two year old gas. I didn't log the first two tanks or my trip to Americade but my first tank of three round trips commuting came back at 95.8 mpgUS which is at least as good as it was doing before and now I have locking storage. Cross winds are a complete non issue with this little tail.

The tail section looks great. I bought some foam pipe insulation to split and mount on the edges of my tail box to fill the gap between my body and the back rest.

I've had the longer gearing installed for years. My recent three tank average is running around 96 mpgUS, 40.8 km/L.

I haven't seen how it looks with a rider yet myself. I evetually will do some tuft video but I want to make a windshield first. And maybe some removable under panels for the rear.
