Hello All (240Z CNG conversion)

Hi, my name is Jason. I own a 1972 240z and am building a motor for it to run CNG. I also plan some Basic(I say basic based on the extremes I have seen here so far) aerodynamic improvements.

Just though I would introduce myself. thnx

Pictures?

That's a nice car, in my opinion. I wish you luck with it.

How do you plan to do the CNG conversion?

That's a great car. I had a 280 for years until a drunk decided to smash it while parked at the curb one night. I almost went with LPG but it was just not cost effective. Welcome to the site. Look forward to seeing the progress.

Hi Jason - welcome to the site.

Did you by any chance come in from the HybridZ forum?

I have to say, of all the automotive forums that picked up the Aerocivic thread, I am most impressed with the caliber of the discussion that I saw there. I even registered earlier today to tell them that.

It's worth a look: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=128691

Thnx for the warm welcome. Here is the link to my project page over on hybridz.org, Its screaming for a update, soon. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=123172

I plan to go with a simple mixer/carb set up for now until I can afford injection. Upping the comp to 13-14:1, hot cam nothing too crazy.

Should be interesting though as NJ has ZERO refueling stations and not a single rebate or incentive lol.

Wow... Wow. That's a big job. Beauty car, though -definitely worth saving.

For sure post back when you've updated that thread.

I'm betting most people (myself included) don't really know the issues around a CNG conversion. Looking forward to learning more about it.

Yes, its a little bigger then I had planned for but it is going ok so far.

Well, I plan to post a how to on both sites once running. CNG is about $1.50 a equiv gallon and there is a national .50 cent rebate on every equiv gallon you purchase. Meaning at the end of the year you fill out the form, send it in along with your receipts and will receive .50 for every gallon your purchased ALL year back as a tax refund. It is also 120 octane, only emits carbon dioxide and water when burned. 90% of what we use is mined/produced in the usa as well. You can refill at home while parked. I could go on and on all day lol.
