Does the car want or need bodywork as a result?

My wife and I live in michigan/indiana and routinely have 4-5 close calls every year. It's just a matter of time.

This sort of event can be lethally serious. Here's a couple pics. Don't look if you're squeamish. One of them shows a horse through the windshield. A moose would pretty much the same.

Well, I thought I better get in on this action too. On the way home last night I hit one too. Jumped right out of the ditch into my passenger headlight. Thankfully I wasn't going too fast and the damage isn't too bad. Still, I'm not too happy that I have to work on repairing the car vs modding it this weekend. Drive careful out there.

Moose get a couple people every year up here. About 300 moose end up getting passed out to folks who put their name on a list to come get the meat. Best advise I can come up with is slow down, keep your eyes open. Winter is the worst because the roads are slick. The snow makes it hard for moose to get around, and roads are plowed.

No significant bodywork damage, just a couple of dents in the nose and hood I'll need to pop back out. The last two deer strikes were full grown does, guessing in the 140 to 180 lbs range.

I to have hit my share of deer over the years 5 of them to be exact. two of the hits caused damage bad enough to need repair the other three where not bad enough to need repair. What I have learner is that driving slower is better, and specialy when visability is poor, such as at dawn, dusk, night and in a blizards. one of the roads that I drive on has a speed limit of 80 km/hr [50mph], local people complain that the road is dangerous and want the road upgraded to allow higher speeds. What I say is that the road is safe when driving at or below the posted speed limit, yet so meany drivers insist on driving at 100km/hr [62mph] at night on this road when it is common knowledge that there are deer,horses and cows on the road on a regular basis. As much as we would like to blame governmant and industry for our problems [Driving to fast for the condition...] some of the responcebility [33%] always remains with us. We can increase the risk or reduce the risk we may never be able to make it go away.

One thing to keep in mind when increasing driving safety are also headlight upgrades. With xenon lights on high beams visibility is awesome which translates into muchsafer driving at higher speeds.
It`s just worth it to upgrade with and HID kit, during the night I`ve met al sorts of things lying or moving on the road, not to mention drunk people riding a bicycle with no lights or a reflection jacket.

ugh please choose a relatively high quality one... I've seen cars burnt due to converter box shorting out, and burn the whole engine bay and half a car down for no reason

The best thing about HID lights is you can see oncoming drivers flipping you the bird because you blinded them.

We`ve also seen cars burnt down because people were installing head units
