Lotus Elise or Excige could be a candidate for such a conversion. Very light car at just over 2k pounds and it came with the Yamaha designed Toyota 2ZZ engine. That engine was also used in the Toyota Matrix, Corolla and Pontiac Vibe. Considering the family lineage it possibly could make for a very easy swap. The biggest issue would be where to put the battery on a car very very limited space.

Prius Engine 1NZFE designation
FYI
The 2004-09 Toyota Prius has a 1.5L 1NZFE engine with aluminum air intake plenum. The Toyota, Yaris, Echo, and Prius C have similar 1.5L 1NZF engine with ABS plastic intake plenum design.
The Toyota 2000-07 Matrix and Corolla has a 1.8 L 1ZZFE engine.

Both the matrix and the corolla had an “xrs” option that included the 2zz mated to a 6 speed. The pontiac vibe GT also had the same 2zz/6speed setup. I owned one for 8 years.

I was looking into if the Prius HSD could be used for a FR-setup by attaching an axle to the back of MG2, but there seems to be an oil pump in the way.

Would there be enough room in the back of a Lancia Stratos replica for a Prius drivetrain?
But what to do with the gutted Prius? How about a Hellcat implant? https://youtu.be/gFbvYeFO8w4

It may be worth to take a look at the approach taken for the Prius C and the 7-seater versions of the Prius V, which had a smaller Lithium battery slotted between the center console and the dashboard.

How about in a tank:
Combines no idling with instant go when the driver wants.

Go is relative in a tank!
When I drove a school bus I used to accelerate before the light turned green because it took a full second for anything to happen.
